Kid’s Book Review: How to Steal a Dragon’s Sword by Cressida Cowell

how to steal dragon's sword

Hiccup and the other warriors-to-be have one final test to climb Angry Mountain to reach Flashburn’s Palace. There, they will compete in the sword fighting tournament to achieve higher ranking. When they arrive, something is wrong. Nobody is there except a witch who happens to be the mother of Alvin the Treacherous.

Rating: 1/10 – The entire storyline was drawn out and slow. Every time it showed any sign of getting better, it would take a nose dive. The villains are horrible and there is so much negative drama that I found it depressing at every turn.

Kid’s Book Review: “A hero for Wondla” by TonyDiterlizzi

This is book two of the series. It has been awhile since I posted about book one because someone else had it checked out at the library. If you would like a refresher, here is the review of book one.

Eva Nine continues her search to find humans around the globe. When Hailey brings her to a human city, Eva begins to realize that there is a big secret and something bad is going on. When she tries to escape, she finds out who is behind it all. This book also has many illustrations drawn by the author which are very descriptive and beautiful. They help me to imagine the amazing world this author creates.

Rating: 8/10 – I like the series so far, and I look forward to the next book.

spiderwick-field-guide

Jared, Simon, and Mallory Grace move into an old Victorian house and right away they start hearing noises from the walls. Simon gets excited because he thinks it is a squirrel. While exploring around the house, Jared finds a mysterious book (an informative field guide) written by a relative a long time ago. The book describes strange creatures and how to deal with each of them.

When Jared is blamed for mischievous events that occur around the house, he tries to find out what is really going on, and discovers one of the creatures described in the book.

Rating: 10/10. I absolutely loved this book. It was a fun introduction to a very awesome story line.
